Dr. Rachel W. Goode Receives the 2023 SSWR Deborah K. Padgett Early Achievement Award

Every year, the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) recognizes outstanding researchers for their contributions to the social work field. Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator of the Living F.R.E.E. Lab, Dr. Rachel W. Goode, is among the 2023 SSWR award recipients and was given the Deborah K. Padgett Early Achievement Award. 

The SSWR Deborah K. Padgett Early Achievement Award serves to acknowledge accomplishments that reflect: 

  • “Innovative scholarship” 
  • “A rigorous approach to social work research” 
  • “Scholarship which is attracting the interest of other scholars and work that exhibits an emerging influence in the field” 
  • Noteworthy “contribution[s] to advancing the [social work] profession” (Call for nominations…, 2022) 

This award was offered to Dr. Rachel W. Goode in recognition of her research on the intersection between eating disorders and obesity, and her attempts at finding effective interventions for marginalized communities.
